Walking. There are many great walks around Denholme:
1) One hour walk around Doe Park reservoir. 
2) Head up Clock Lane and over the moors towards Oxenhope.
3) Head down towards the hamlet of Wheelrace.

Have a go at mountain biking. The Old Road is an ideal starting point heading towards Denholme Gate and along Black Edge Lane over the moors to Sawood to The Dog & Gun Inn. After some light refreshment, go along Trough lane and back to Denholme.

Foster park has a children’s playground, skate board equipment and lots of room for ball games. There is plenty of room to fly kites, race remote control cars or practice bike control over the bumps. There is also a multi use games area and lots of room for ball games.

Have a drink at The New Inn, Keighley Road, Denholme: bar snacks available every day, Sunday lunch 1.30  - 4.30, beer garden, Big screen TV.

Surrounding area

Haworth (2 miles) -  Main Street offers a variety of shops & tearooms. It is also served by the Keighley & Worth Valley steam Railway (01535 645214). There is the famous Bronte Parsonage Museum (01535 642323)

Halifax (7 miles) -  many attractions which include the Piece Hall, theatre, museums, traditional covered market, vibrant night life as well as newly developed shopping areas. Try the Ski and Snowboarding slope 01422 340760

Eureka museum for children  Winner of many awards, this interactive museum for children caters for ages between three and twelve. Features café, shop, picnic area. Tel: 01422 330069

Manor Heath Park & Jungle Experience  (7 miles), situated next to Saville Park in Halifax. Includes tropical gardens filled with exotic flowers, butterflies, walled gardens including organic allotment, children’s play equipment. Tel: 01422 365631

Shibden Estate  (7 miles) - just outside Halifax is Shibden Hall and museum,  surrounded by 37 hectares of parkland. Includes a boating lake, terraced gardens, pitch & putt, miniature railway, children’s play area, café and woodland walks. Tel: 01422 352246.

Keighley (5 miles) - has a good indoor shopping centre with easy parking, It also has Cliffe Castle Park, which includes a free museum and a café.

Ingrow (4 miles) -  Museum of Rail Travel, open daily 11am to 4.30pm (01535 680425)

Bradford (7 miles) - This impressive city has many attractions, including the National Museum of Photography, Film & Television which includes the 64 feet IMAX cinema screen (01274 732277), Cartwright Hall free Art Gallery (café, shop, baby changing), in Lister Park (01274 493313), the Ice Ring (01274 733535), Alhambra theatre (01274 752000), Saltaire village & Salts Mill, including  the David Hockney Gallery, the Bradford Industrial Museum (Tuesday -  Saturday 10am -  5pm 01274 631756).

Thornton Recreation Centre  (4 miles) , Leaventhorpe Lane, Thornton (01274) 883874. Sports hall, fitness centre, football, table tennis, aerobics, gymnastics, martial arts and astro turf pitch.
