Gala Survey

A) Question: If I was new to Denholme, I should be told about.

 

Responses:

1) How to get involved in local groups etc. perhaps through the surgery or library (I was new to Denholme last year)

2) Information point with all clubs and activities listed.

3) What happens in the Mechanics Institute. Its FABULOUS.

4) Is there an advert on the website for the library?

 

B) Question: Life in Denholme would be better if.

 

Responses:

1) Cycle path to be finished - Cullingworth, Denholme, Queensbury.

2) Traffic calming measures so children can walk to school - Beech Drive - garage

3) Tennis courts!

4) Clearing of footpaths around village so children can walk to school - back of Ogden Crescent / Denholme Edge / Back of club up to school.

5) The Library to open more often.

6) Urgent review of traffic calming.

7) Great place to live BUT dog fouling needs to be sorted.

8) Make the streets safer by seeing more police involvement i.e. noisy and loud teenagers. Give children over 12 places to go at the weekend.

9) Denholme is a good place to live, but streets could be clean.

10) We don’t like the busy road. Too many people drive too fast.

11) Slow traffic down.

12) Dog poo clean up. School Street, Park.

13) Too many heavy lorries going too fast though village.

14) More flowers.

15) Denholme is a great place to live. It just needs everyone to take more pride in their community.

16) The streets could be kept cleaner more often and dog owners told to watch their dogs don’t mess on the causeway.

17) Open the Youth Café up for the whole village - OAP groups, scouts etc. Speeding signs that light up, more concerts in the bandstand, Police Community Support Officers on Saturday nights. More community activities like the gala.

18) Be clean - no litter bugs.

 

C)        Question: In Denholme, I would like.

 

Responses:

1) I want more dance classes in the village

2) I would like a cycle track

3) Information about local walks and trails

4) More information re. local walks and footpaths would be great.

5) Maybe more for children’s play area.

6) I would love to see the bandstand renovated to its former glory (and used!)

7) To keep all the rides here.

8) Rides in the park!!!

9) The brass band started up again!.

 

D)       Question: I Like living in Denholme because.

 

Responses:

1) The village community feel, but I would like to see more young people involved in looking after our village.

2) Excellent park and facilities. Great gala, excellent location to live (transport). Great reservoir and countryside.

3) Of the community atmosphere.

4) Like the park.

5) I like the countryside on doorstep.

6) In general the people are friendly and helpful.

7) Community and nice surroundings.

8) Love the rural aspect and friendly people.
